Joanne + Brian
I was excited to spend a delightful morning with a newly engaged couple, Joanne and Brian, in Washington D.C. and Alexandria to capture some of their favorite memories and their love story.
They are both dog lovers. They met for the very first time three years ago while walking their dogs around their apartment building in Alexandria. They somehow just kept running into each other ever since. Surprisingly, they met again at a neighbor friend's house and a beautiful friendship began to grow between the two. From being strangers to neighbors, neighbors to friends and now friends to mates for life.
Brian loves to bike and sometimes he would bike from his Alexandria home all the way to D.C. One of his favorite views is the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, our first destination. We then visited the bridge near the Tidal Basin where he proposed, even though finding parking was like impossible. Next, we decided to take a few quick shots by the water with beautiful cherry blossom in the background. This couple unexpectedly received many enthusiastic shoutouts from the tourists. "Look, they are getting married! Congratulations!" What a joy! Lastly, we returned to their apartment in Alexandria and wrapped up the session in front of their new home.
And you know what! The bride-to-be was my roommate during college, we have known each other for more than 15 years. I was so thrilled and honored to be their engagement photographer, to be able to revisit their special places together and help tell their love story.
