Dol or doljanchi is a Korean tradition that celebrates the first birthday of a baby. This ceremony blesses the child with a prosperous future. The highlight of the whole event is called Doljabi. It is a tradition for the child to choose from various items placed before him or her (Usually 6 – 8 items). The final choice represents a certain future of the child with respect to his or her career or a lifestyle.
